Safe, Modern Electrical Systems
Electrical work in LA runs $500-$1,500 for small jobs (outlet additions, fixture installs, circuit additions), $4,500-$9,000 for panel upgrades from 100A to 200A, and $18,000-$50,000 for full home rewires. Service from the utility may need to be re-pulled if the existing meter base is undersized. All electrical work in California requires permits and licensed contractors per BPC 7057(b).
California's electrification push (heat pumps, induction cooking, EV charging, home batteries) is driving most panel upgrades. A 200A service is the typical target; older 100A panels rarely have spare capacity for modern loads. Our licensed specialty subs pull permits, coordinate utility service work, and schedule the inspections. Cost variance comes from panel size (100A → 200A typical, 225A or 400A for whole-home electrification), service entrance work (overhead vs. underground; underground laterals add $1,500-$3,000), meter relocation if the existing one is in the wrong place for the new panel, sub-panel adds for backyard ADUs or detached garages, and current-code upgrades that apply when scope opens the wall (CA Electrical Code 2022 requires AFCI on most living-space circuits, GFCI in kitchens/baths/garages/exterior, and whole-house surge protection on new panels). Buildda holds the B/General #1131088; the licensed electrical specialty sub holds the specialty license. Both go on the permit. 2-year workmanship warranty.
