Our wood fence pricing is based on linear feet and includes posts set in concrete, pressure-treated bottom rails, hardware, and professional installation. A wood fence is only as strong as the posts; we dig 24-36 inches deep (about 1/3 the post height), set in concrete, with the post bracketed off the ground so end-grain doesn't sit in standing water. That's the difference between a 5-year fence and a 20-year fence.
Wood fencing typically costs $40-$90 per linear foot installed, depending on wood type, height, and style. Cost variance comes from wood species (pressure-treated pine is the budget option, cedar mid-tier with natural rot resistance, redwood premium with the longest lifespan in our climate), fence height (3-foot front-yard fences are cheapest; 6-foot privacy is standard residential; 8-foot adds engineering and permit), demolition of existing fence ($5-$15 per linear foot), gate count + hardware (each gate runs $300-$800 for hardware plus framing labor), and finish (raw, sealed, or stained adds $5-$15/lf).
