How much does a new roof cost?

Complete roofing projects range from $12,000-$20,000 for standard asphalt shingles, $22,000-$35,000 for premium architectural shingles (like Owens Corning® Duration®), $38,000-$55,000 for designer or cool-roof options, and $48,000-$75,000 for tile or metal roofing. Pricing includes complete tear-off, new underlayment, flashing, ventilation, labor, and cleanup. Permit fees vary by municipality.

Why choose Owens Corning® shingles over other brands?

Owens Corning® is one of the largest shingle manufacturers in North America, with up to 50-year limited warranty coverage on their premium architectural products. The Total Protection Roofing System® bundles the underlayment, ice and water shield, ridge vents, and shingles into one warranty package, which simplifies coverage if a component fails. Wind ratings and color durability are also published per shingle line, so spec sheets match what arrives on the truck.

Do you remove my old roof materials, and is there an extra fee for that?

Yes. Tear-off and disposal are part of every roof replacement quote, and there is no separate disposal fee beyond what is in the original estimate. The exception is unexpected hazardous materials such as asbestos in older underlayment, which requires licensed remediation and a separate line item. We test for it before tear-off when the home's age suggests the risk.

How long does a typical roofing project take?

About 7 working days on-site once we start. The full project window is longer because the permit has to be pulled and approved before tear-off, and we schedule around weather. Winter projects sometimes wait a few days for a dry stretch before we open the roof up.

Are permits included in the total price?

Permits and city fees vary by project and are paid by the homeowner directly to the city - we file the application through LADBS or the local jurisdiction and hand over the receipt. It's a passthrough, not a Buildda markup. The amount depends on the municipality.

What if unexpected repairs are needed after removing the old roof?

Once the old roof is off, we inspect the deck before any new material goes on. If we find hidden problems like rotten plywood, rusted nails, or sheathing that has bowed, we stop and give you an itemized addendum showing what needs to be done and what it costs. Nothing extra happens until you approve. Most jobs come back clean, but the inspection is documented either way.

Why is proper ventilation so important for my roof?

A roof system depends on continuous airflow between intake (soffit vents) and exhaust (ridge vents or attic fans). Without it, hot air gets trapped in the attic, bakes the underside of the shingles, and shortens the roof's life by years. Most shingle manufacturers actually require correct ventilation to keep the warranty valid, so it is not optional, it is structural.

Do you offer financing or payment plans?

Yes. We work with multiple lenders, and the right option depends on your project size and credit profile. We pull together the options during your no-obligation consultation so you can compare against a credit card or HELOC. Terms vary by lender; we don't quote dollar amounts or rates upfront.

How do weather conditions affect the scheduling of my roofing project?

Heavy rain, high winds, and unsafe rooftop temperatures can pause or push installation. We monitor forecasts and reschedule when conditions risk shingle adhesion, crew safety, or water entering an open roof. In Southern California most delays are wind-related, so we can usually finish the work within a few days of the original date once weather clears.

Is Buildda properly licensed?

Yes. Buildda holds California Contractors State License Board license #1131088, classification B (General Building Contractor). The B license covers general construction; for specialty trades like electrical (C-10) and plumbing (C-36) we use licensed sub-contractors, which is required by California BPC 7057(b). License status, bond, and workers' compensation insurance can be verified directly at cslb.ca.gov.

Do you offer different shingle colors or styles?

Yes. Owens Corning® offers dozens of colors across their architectural and designer shingle lines, ranging from traditional grays and browns to modern slate and weathered-wood patterns. Color options are tied to the shingle line you select. We bring physical samples to the consultation so you can see them under real sunlight on your home rather than guessing from a screen or sample chip.

Does Buildda handle warranty registration for me?

Yes. We register the manufacturer warranty (Owens Corning® Total Protection lines run up to 50 years) and our own 2-year workmanship guarantee on your behalf. You receive documentation confirming both. Manufacturer warranties typically require a registered installation through an approved contractor, so the registration step is part of keeping the coverage valid.

What does the 2-Year Buildda Workmanship Guarantee cover?

The 2-year workmanship guarantee covers installation-related issues such as flashing, sealing, fastening, and ridge-vent integration, which depend on how the roof was assembled rather than how the shingle was made. The manufacturer warranty covers shingle defects separately. Together they overlap so the roof is covered end-to-end during the first years after installation.

How do I maintain my new Owens Corning® roof?

Keep gutters and valleys clear of leaves and debris, since clogged gutters are the most common cause of edge rot. After major storms, do a ground-level check for missing shingles or visible flashing damage. Trim back tree branches that scrape the roof in wind. A professional inspection every 3-5 years catches minor issues before they become leaks.

Can I live in my home during the roofing project?

Yes, in almost all cases. The work is noisy and involves vibration during nail-gun phases, so households with small children or remote-work calls usually plan around tear-off day. Driveway access can be limited because of the dump trailer and material staging in front. We coordinate with you if anything else needs to happen inside, like accessing the attic.

Do you handle related exterior work, like installing gutters or siding repairs?

Yes. As a general contractor we can fold gutter replacement, fascia repair, soffit replacement, and minor siding fixes into the roofing scope rather than scheduling separate trips. The right moment to address fascia and gutters is while the roof edge is exposed during the re-roof. Mention these items at the consultation so they appear in the original quote.

Do you offer emergency repair services if my roof is damaged before or after installation?

Yes, for active leaks and storm damage. The first move is usually a temporary tarp to stop water entry while we schedule the permanent repair. Call the office number to reach us during business hours; for after-hours emergencies, send a photo or a short description to the same number and we will respond as soon as we are back on shift.

How do I get started with a Buildda roofing project?

Schedule a roof inspection through the contact page or by phone. The inspector measures the roof, photographs any visible damage, and reviews ventilation and flashing. After the visit you receive a detailed itemized quote, typically within a few business days. From there you pick the shingle style and color, and we file the permit and schedule installation.
